Professional Home Foot Care

Birkdale Foot Health offers convenient and expert foot care all in the comfort of your own home. Treatments are delivered by a fully qualified and registered Foot Health Practitioner, dedicated to providing patients with a personalised service that addresses specific foot health needs.

Comprehensive Foot Assessments

Specialised in the provision of a range of foot health treatments, with each tailored to ensure that your feet remain healthy, comfortable, and pain-free. My approach is always focused on your wellbeing.

Each initial foot health appointment is inclusive of a peripheral neurological vascular assessment, during which the pulses of the feet are examined using an ultrasound vascular doppler. Sensations of the feet are also checked for any signs of peripheral neuropathy.

Routine Foot Care

Maintenance of healthy feet with regular nail trimming, filing, and general foot care advice.

Corn and Callus Removal

Expert and gentle removal of corns and hard skin to relieve discomfort and improve your foot health.

Cracked Heels and Verrucas

Treatment for common foot conditions such as cracked heels and verrucas for your improved comfort.

Ingrown Toenail and Fungal Treatment

Ingrown toenail management and the testing and treatment of fungal nail infections.

Diabetic Foot Care Management

Maintaining healthy feet greatly reduces the risk of complications associated with diabetes, including poor circulation and reduced sensation. Regular treatment and assessment can help to prevent discomfort, infection, and ulceration.

About Me

My name is Emma, and I am a registered Foot Health Practitioner offering professional home foot health appointments throughout Southport, Formby, and the surrounding area.

With more than 24 years of experience working across both the NHS and private healthcare sectors, I have developed a strong understanding of the ever growing patient need for accessible and reliable foot health care services.

I take pride in the provision of high quality and personalised treatments to support your foot health, improve comfort, and to help you to remain active and pain-free.

All appointments are carried out in the comfort of your own home, offering a more convenient and flexible option for those who may be experiencing mobility issues, demanding schedules, or difficulty in attending clinic based appointments.

What is the difference between a Foot Health Practitioner and a Podiatrist?

Both Foot Health Practitioners (FHPs) and Podiatrists/Chiropodists are trained to provide routine foot care, including nail cutting, corn and callus treatment, verruca and fungal nail care, diabetic foot checks, and general foot health assessments.

Podiatrists have a higher level of training and specialise in diagnosing and treating more complex foot, ankle, and lower limb conditions. They can also provide orthotics and footwear advice to help prevent and manage ongoing problems.

FHPs usually qualify through diploma training, while Podiatrists complete a degree qualification. Both should be fully insured and registered with their relevant professional bodies to ensure safe and professional care.

Should further specialist assessment or treatment be required to treat a patient, a Foot Health Practitioner will refer your issue on to the relevant clinician (ie: Podiatrist or your registered GP) if you provide your consent for them to do so.

Pricing

Standard appointments are charged at £45 per person and typically last between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Consecutive appointments for multiple people within the same residence are charged at a reduced rate of £40 per person, per visit.

Additional charges may apply for specialist applications, ointments, or suspected fungal nail testing, which will always be discussed and agreed upon prior to treatment.

Payment can be made via contactless card payment or online bank transfer at the time of the appointment.
